I brought the diary back--mostly for nostalgic reasons, I guess. Maybe I'll make a new design and start updating again, but maybe not... I dunno. My livejournal is more active.

About time, heh // 2001-05-22 / six thirty am |

Oy vey... it's pretty early in the morning, but I don't feel like going back to sleep. Donny left for work about 45 minutes ago. Well, this gives me the opportunity to catch up on a few things, and I have to go to Starbucks at noon to fill out paperwork to start working there. And hey; that candy and ice cream store on Las Olas is supposed to call me today to set up an interview, so that'll be good. But tangent; let me explain the last few weeks in condensed form... Well, first of all, an apology to my couple of readers: I am so sorry that I haven't updated for so long! :) You see, I've been busy... I've moved down to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and I'm now living with my boyfriend in his [now our] tiny little apartment. It's been great. The Fort Lauderdale area is unlike any place I've lived thus far; the people are different and the climate is, too. The weather here has been a lot hotter than what I'm used to, but the area is so pretty! There are palm trees outside our windows, and the neighborhood is nice and quiet, with that "old neighborhood" feel. And about two minutes away is downtown Fort Lauderdale, so we're close to the city and everything there. I've moved most of the stuff out of my car and into the apartment or the little storage space that we rented. I put my sweaters and stuff into storage... it'll be a while before I need them again. The apartment vacillates between a semi-clean state and a mess, but that's all good, because neither Donny nor I are very tidy people. It works out well that way. In a lot of ways, Donny and I are very similar, and in other ways, we're not. For instance, on the long car ride down to southern Florida, we once listened to his lesbian folk music for about three and a half hours straight. Now, I like the Indigo Girls and also a lot of stuff by Ani diFranco, but by the end of that leg of the journey, I didn't want to listen to any acoustic guitar music for a while. And heh... when I play his mp3 playlists on his iMac, it's hit or miss whether I'm gonna like any random song. But I'm starting to like [some of] his music better. So that's good. After more than a week of living together, we've discovered that we each have some small annoying habits... Donny doesn't like the sounds I make when I'm drinking; apparently I'm a loud swallower. It's kind of funny, but when I asked José about it over the phone, he said yes, I did make an annoying sound when I'm drinking, but he'd never wanted to mention it because he thought it would sound petty. Well, I don't know. It's not like I can really do anything about the way I swallow, so I'm not going to stress about it. I just think it's kind of funny. About Donny; there's really nothing about him that I don't love. There are some things he does that annoy me a bit, but they are parts of him, and I wouldn't want him differently than the way he is. It's going to be very interesting to see how our relationship develops, especially since we're so open with each other... I mean, we read each other's online journals! Not much is hidden, and I like it that way. Hmmm; love is cool. Well, now that that background stuff is out of the way, I'll keep on updating more often. And in between, I'm always writing in my livejournal, so if you want to peek at my day, that's a good way to do it :) Bye for now, ---D3---
